Sometimes You Must Create
What You Want To Be Part Of.

I am an advocate in a spiritual quest as a Warrior of the Light. I believe in a higher source, but also believe engaging in this journey does not mean we have to take a vow of silence, or celibacy. We do not have to walk humbly with our heads down reciting quite words of scripture. Being spiritual dos not mean you have to be boringly serious. It does not mean you cannot live open and free, be child like, laugh and enjoy a glass of wine, get lost in good music or stand frozen in the majestic beauty of a heart-warming sunrise.

I am a healer, seeker of a higher consciousness and I do so in the manner of a Quasi Spiritual Warrior. I pursue this always and I will for life. I do not practice, I am. It is my mindset. It is the true Who, of Who I am.

I am a believer in these words of Gaudi, “God has no realign.”
I have no Concern what your religious beliefs are. They are yours and I respect that. I do not think there should be so many rules in religion, and a spiritual belief has no room for ego and control. I am an advocate of non-segregated religion. My spirituality, my belief in a higher Source is something that flows through me each and every day and is not restricted to a weekend workshop.

My beliefs and I believe without hesitation, is that the raising of our higher consciences is the only path to true peace. I am by no means perfect, but I try to live with Calm, Compassion and Kindness with all my interactions, and have no room for those that do not. My spiritual beliefs have simply been minimalized and even segregated from the norm, and in the simplification have been purified into the Essential Way.

Do to the fact that I have studied world religions from a very young age, finding the openness and similarities in so many and then highly Influenced in the path of spirituality from becoming a Reiki Master I developed a spiritual path of my own.

The Unalome
unalumeThe Unalome, a Hindu symbol, or Yant is a sacred geometrical design representing the path to enlightenment. The spirals are meant to symbolize the twists and turns in life, and the straight lines, the moment one reaches the place of peace and harmony. This symbol recalls Shiva´s third eye and it represents various blessings, protection, wisdom and the path to perfection.
Helping to find the Way with Calming Compassion, the Copper Unalome is created from recycling and reclaimed copper wire. Each one is twisted and formed by hand with the intent of calmness and compassion. Being created by hand, each one will have slight variations in style and uniformity. The Unalome is approximately 2 inches, on a 24 inch copper chain, $20. Chains are treated and will not discolor skin.

The Essential Way – A Foundation For Peace
While conveying the Seven Elements of the Essential Way
Calmness, Compassion, Kindness, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Love and Mindfulness

The Self Prophesized mission of The Essential Way – A Foundation For Peace is very simple. It is to inform and teach to all, by word and example, not just the Seven Elements of the Essential Way, but also the way of Peace and nonviolence. This is accomplished by not only with verbalization, not only with believing it, but also by living it. Just For Today, with continuation again tomorrow.

Accepting and implementing beliefs from core doctrines has simply minimalized my spiritual beliefs. In the simplification of passionate belief, founded from the core of faith, they have been sanitized into the Essential Way.

Just as the study of Zen, The Tao, The Eternal Way of Hinduism and the Way of Christ, the Essential Way is nothing more then a glimmer of direction. By no means is it the absolute. This is the way I have found to achieve a truthful path to a higher consciousness and Spirit. If something that I may offer will promote a small step for you to close the gap towards Spirit, then I will be blessed with gratitude and happiness.

The Essential Way is merely seven fundamental components that need no named religion to follow, yet if followed would eradicate negativity, hate and violence from our world and as a derivative we would become free and radiate with love. Knowing, feeling and constantly projecting Calmness, Compassion, Kindness, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Love and Mindfulness is a “Way,” that cannot be distorted by any means.

The Essential Way – A Foundation For Peace, ignited with the Seven Elements, has faithfully exposed nonviolence to everyone at home, at work, at school and to the World. We strive to increase each person’s ability to see alternate solutions to potentially violent solutions. This is accomplished, with just one person at a time. They will listen and in time, will understand and believe the way of spirit is to embrace potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions. This is the path for Peace and the Essential Way.

The Journey towards Spirit is a personal and individual journey and what must be remembered is when anyone communicates their religious or spiritual ways; by no means is it the absolute. A spiritual path cannot be controlled with rules and laws, nor should a path be walked that is worn smooth from the complete and total ways of another. Listen carefully, discover your own truth and allow what you hear to guide you towards your own destination.

The Zen Way
The Zen Way is Calmness, being relaxed with no worries of the ways you cannot change. The Zen Way of being is a state of mind that sees things without distortion, yet not casting judgment when they are seen.

The Way of The Tao
The meaning of the Tao, the Tao Way, is untranslatable. The Tao means everything. The Tao is the flow, the way of everything. The Tao is what is being done now and what is not being done now. It is a concept of harmonious living, breathing and being.

The Eternal Way of Hinduism
Hinduism, the world’s oldest religion, has no beginning–it precedes recorded history and has no human founder. It is a mystical religion, leading the devotee to personally experience the Truth within. It is referred to as a way of life or the Eternal Way.

Hindus respect a body of texts as sacred scripture known as the Veda, a Sanskrit word meaning knowledge and draw on a common system of values known as dharma, which in a since is a code of conduct. Hindus believe in a Supreme God, whose qualities and forms are represented by the multitude of deities, which derive from him.

Hindus believe that existence is a cycle of birth, death and rebirth, governed by Karma. They believe that the soul passes through a cycle of successive lives and its next incarnation is always dependent on how the previous life was lived.

Hindus believe that no religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others, but that all genuine paths are facets of God’s Light, deserving tolerance and understanding.

The Way of Christ
The Way Of Christ is the way of love; the principal configuration of love, unconditional love embracing and transcending all that is, regardless of circumstances. Taking love, the most meaningful belief of all and with its unending way, exercising heartfelt affection and active goodwill. This purification of all that is will develop naturally with no end.

The Zen Way, The Toa Way,
The Eternal Way of Hinduism and The Way of Christ,
from these centers came the
The Essential Way

Defense of Self
When living the Essential Way, sadly, we must still protect the true person, our higher self. This is something that has always been and will be, until all can find their own path to Spirit. In the “Defense of Self ” I apply the protection adapted of; Choice & Situation

Choice and Situation
The manner of security of self that I have chosen is, Choice and Situation. I live by choice, even when choices are heavily influenced with chance. I have no control of any situation but my own. Your situation, or the influences that are in your setting are completely out of my power and jurisdiction. What I do have is choice. I can choose to be involved and subjected to the many different elements that may be included in your situation, or I can choose to turn and walk away. I do not have to be involved, even if I cannot literally leave the area, I can leave. I can retreat to my own place while circumnavigating your situation. I can travel freely here until I can literally turn and walk away. This is self-preservation and will keep us completely clear of the negativity and drama that so many have welcomed into their space of being. The lost and fearful that seem to enjoy floundering in a bog negative quagmire.

Continued
In a future blog I will go into depth about the Essential Way, The Seven Elements of the Essential Way. If each day we live by this way, there would be no need for anything else.

DerivativeBeside Living The Essential Way and my daily life of Reiki
I also meditate each morning.

As the sun rises in the East I am deep into my morning healing prayers and meditation. This is something that has truly altered my way of being to defrag my mind and give me a clean open and unobstructed path for being.

Altering Self With Simple Meditation
Continued daily meditation modifies the structure of your brain and can adjust the ways you think. It will change how you relate to yourself and to others. This modification for the greater good of all things will begin immediately with your first sitting, and then continue over time to increase, placing you on a higher level of being.

To observe the immediate effects of meditation, sit comfortable and adjust your posture so your back is straight and your head is level. Place your hands on top of your thighs with palms open and facing up. Take ten, ten-second breaths conveying all your attention to breathing. Breathe in deeply from the Universe, filling your lungs and lift your left thumb as you slowly count to ten. Now breathe out from who you are, completely empty your lungs. Now touch your index finger to your thumb as you breathe in from the Universe, hold for a slow count of ten and breathe out to completely empty your lungs. Repeat this with each remaining finger. If a thought enters your mind, at any time, acknowledge it and gently brush it aside as you return to your mind to your breath.

With the counting of ten breaths, ten times, a simple meditation is fulfilled. With the achievement of the first two breaths, you will identify a difference in your mind. This transformation that you notice immediately with the first couple breaths will be is even more pronounced if you are stressed or tense. Breathing deeply and evenly transfers you towards an all-embracing relaxation. Like all switches, the more you employ them the smoother they become and the better they will work for you. A Ten Breathe Meditation will take around two minutes or you can extend it to a five-minute mediation with 25-30 breaths.

By allowing the commitment of mediation to enter into your being each and every day, you will find your mind, you will see the source of what was and you will be able make the modifications to create a calmer mind that will bring you joy and contentment within the ultimate version of who you are.

With daily mediation a physical change to your brain structure will transpire and your outlook changes as you unintentionally begin to be present and live with the Essential Way. With emotional regulation and control the Seven Elements of Calmness, Compassion, Kindness, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Love and Mindfulness will become consistent and these natural feelings will settle into your pleasant place of being.

Living life places you in situations that detonate emotional highs and lows, but with daily meditation, it will not matter what may unfold around you, you will be able to quickly return to breath, be present where you are, and with high compassion, construct the mind and situation you choose to exist within your higher self.

The Chool Cast is live and filled with life from Dan Abernathy and the Chool Bus. Poetry, music and a traveling vagabond, full of Spirituality, Reiki, Compassion, and Renaissance Type of Man that refuses to fit in. This episode was produced in Three Forks Montana in route to Washington State. I know I take the long road and as Brian Ernst remarked, “Who did you get your directions from, Me?” You can track my mind a bit in this episode and the highlight is a conversation with Brad Toft about Burning Man. He is a wondering vagabond and troubadour, a Burner and far from any mold that society has constructed for people. Enjoy this conversation with insight about attending Burning Man.

freedomDuring this time of anarchy and confusion, where we are being pushed into uniting and becoming one, in truth we are being pulled apart from who we are. We are being separated and leaving no trace of self. There are pronounced world powers that are secretly in total and complete control as they push forward with no empathy to wholly stomp out freedom and individuality leaving the dream to fall in the wake. – dbA

The Sportsman Bar – Kingman Arizona

May 6, 2019
Chronologies, Excerpts, Fragments and Reflections!
the Artistic Journals of Dan Abernathy

SB_12When passing through Kingman Arizona, on the historic Route 66, there is an incredible and historic Dive Bar that must be visited The Sportsman Bar was built in 1906 and has been serving highballs and beer over the same wooden bar since. As I sit down for my first cocktail, I wondered if perhaps Tom Joad from the Grapes of Wrath might have sit here, or at the very least John Steinbeck. Whoever it was, the wooden slab is worn smooth from the tens of thousands of people, bellying up to the bar.

Reading Trip Adviser you will see some people don’t share my enthusiasm about the Sportsman Bar, but come on people, it’s a Dive Bar. The main attraction in visiting a Dive Bar is the hardcore character of the unique establishment and even more so the bartender. You don’t venture into these dark, dingy places looking for someone to coddle your needs. If this is what you are seeking, perhaps an Applebee’s would suit you.

Dive Bars have a personality that knows their way around a bar and how to serve a stiff drink, a cold beer and will dish you some attitude if they think you are being a bit judgmental. But when you laugh and call ‘em Darling, they will usually give you a life experience that will last forever.

SB_07

This is just what I had when I wandered into the Sportsman Bar. It was dark, with no need to change the burnt-out lights bulbs, but my eyes adjust quickly and it was fantastic. There is one door in the front, one door in the back and no windows. There is crazy art and relics, especially in the bathrooms and the walls of the entire bar are holding dollar bills, a tradition that stated decades ago. Sandy was slinging drinks and gave us just what we wanted and did it all with a kind and crooked smile while answering all the questions about where I was at.

The Sportsman Bar is a must stop and see for travelers on Route 66. Like I said, it is a historic jewel for Kingman. – dbA

Yarnell, Arizona – A Traveling Treat

Yar01

Yar02Evading interstate highways and wandering on small back roads is often the best times of being on the road. On these two-lane highways you will find the treats of travel and remember why traveling is about the journey, not the destination. This road trip pictured here came alive when I went though the small town of Yernell Arizona.

Yernell is a unique community named after gold prospector Harrison Yarnell. Coming from Wickenburg, travelers gain altitude through a series of hairpin-like curves on Highway 89 as they ascend 1,300 feet in four miles into the Weaver Mountains.

This quiet town deserves time from everyone wandering down the road. Slow down and look around, hear some stories from the locals you meet and drift down some side streets. Like most small towns, Yarnell has lots of looking to see. – dbA

Lake Pleasant Was Not So Pleasant

Lake Pleasant Was Not So Pleasant

IMG_2171

It is easy to assume that I am a bit spoiled when it comes to being around water. Living in Pinedale Wyoming for so many years, being surrounded by pristine water sets the bar pretty high when it comes to getting wet in a lake. It doesn’t take much to get me to drop my cloths and dive into water, but even a diehard skinny-dipper like me has to keep some lose standards. Going to Lake Pleasant Regional Park was not very pleasant. In fact I had to run away and drown my sorrows with a cool margarita.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park is a recreation area in Maricopa county northwest of Phoenix Arizona. What I found out is it is also the major recreation hub for the Phoenix metro area. Which means lots and lots of people literally rubbing elbows and trying to enjoy the water, the day and the sun.

Lake Pleasant is also used as an important storage reservoir for the rapidly growing region. A number of boat docks and beach access make the lake a popular destination for scuba diving, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing and other water sports. Another highlight of the lake is that it has also been plagued by a number of deaths over the years for numerous different reasons including carbon monoxide poisoning.

What I went to see was the first picture. What I found was the rest.

Needless to say I didn’t jump in, I couldn’t make myself jump through the floating debris. I had been wadding in enough garbage to get to the shore. Even when I made it back to my truck, I found a tweeker using the back bumper for a lawn chair and shade from the sun.

I’m not judging, comparing or being negative about the Lake Pleasant. I truly believe that the people there were having a grand time. I myself, well I am just going to find more alpine type lakes and leave this bog water to the tadpoles.

Shrine of St. Joseph of the Mountains

IMG_2101

Just down country from Prescott Arizona is the small quite town of Yarnell. It is full of treasures to see and rural people that are guarded but friendly. One of the grandest of all treasures that Yarnell holds, though not very well advertised, in fact it may seem a bit hidden, is the Shrine of Saint Joseph of the Mountains.

IMG_2085The Shrine of St Joseph of the Mountains statues were made of concrete in 1939 by a folk artist, Felix Lucero, who at he time lived under a bridge in Tucson. It was built as an appeal to Americans to promote the spirit of peace in their homes.

For more than 75 years the Shrine of St Joseph of the Mountains has been a destination for those knowing of its place of serenity and seeking contemplation. Easter being an almost annual pilgrimages each year for families. It is a peaceful experience to climb and meditate on the various Stations of the Cross.  You will find nothing but peace here in this place of calm tranquility.

The Shrine is open 24 hours a day with no admission is required, but donations are gratefully accepted.

The Chool Cast Episode 9 – Is Now Live!

sticker-4.5inx4.5in

The Chool Cast is back in the depths of subculture notoriety in the finest of underground ways; the Chool Cast is the podcast you do not want to pass over. It is produced and recorded by Dan Abernathy while traveling the back roads and highways in a converted 1991 International school bus named the Chool Bus.

In this episode I introduce and welcome myself living the life as a Quasi Spiritual Warrior. I am an outlaw poet, artist, and purveyor of words, Reiki Master, a minister, junkyard philosopher, and a vagabond searching for pure hedonistic meaning in his way of life. My voice, be it in words or in art, is a collection of oddities, fascinations, desires and obsessions – a road map of sorts, tracking the life of a man that can’t and won’t fit in.

What Am I Doing? Well I’m not really sure. I have been doing something for a long time and plan on doing a lot more. I guess, as I roll everything into an untidy wad, it will be governed by my journals.

Hear Me Now

April 17, 2019
Chronologies, Excerpts, Fragments and Reflections!
the Artistic Journals of Dan Abernathy

HearMeNow_AdWelcome to the chaotic and often strange life of a Quasi Spiritual Warrior Dan Abernathy. Because I can formulate my thoughts better with my fingers, which can lead to a whole other direction that we won’t be touching yet, I’ll be reading some of what you are hearing.

While making this visible to all, I practice the therapeutic healing of living in the now, among the mountains, deserts, oceans, and the bus. I do so without any recognized seal of social approval. I walk my path softly in search of a higher consciousness with the hope of leaving peace and compassion as his only footprints.

I make available 98% of all my freedom and perspectives, be they fluid and random thought, words of meaning, and words of too much meaning, or perhaps at times, meandering words and incomplete rants unleashed to the masses. They other 2% I keep to himself, archived and a waiting gift for the scholars and naysayers to decipher after I walk on.

What Am I Doing? Well I’m not really sure. I have been doing something for a long time and plan on doing a lot more. I guess, as I roll everything into an untidy wad, it will be governed by my journals. This is the tattered map of me, what I think, what I do and what I believe. So as I move forward with the Chool Cast, The YouTube Channel and the WordPress Blog, it is all just going to be me. I have been building this persona all my life and now, with reckless abandonment I am releasing it so all will tremble.

So in this extension of my journals, you will be seeing the true who, of who I am. And you will be witness to this man that prides himself of being an anti-conformist. I don’t fit in because I don’t want to.

What I have of monetary value is really nothing and I want even less. My most valuable commodity is my freedom to live this life of a nomadic vagabond. I live and work in the Chool Bus, a 1991 International converted school bus. I have a small studio in the back and I live in the front. My home of record is Pinedale Wyoming where my physical address is.

So I am houseless, but by no means am I homeless. My home is comfortable and welcoming to everyone with a good, kind heart. I just live on the road and I love life. I am happy! I love seeing people and I talk to them. I try with all that I am to bring a bit of good energy into their day. I do so because each morning I say to myself. Today I will be kind to people.

I look forward to going to bed at night and I look forward to getting up in the morning. I like to share what I’m thinking, seeing and doing. I do this to perhaps evoke a thought in someone or even better inspire them to go find there on sliver of freedom.

I do work, as I have not hit the lottery, hell I haven’t even bought a ticket. Living on the road does cost and I am always looking for ways to supplement my income. What I would really like is for everyone one to just go to my website and put one dollar in the donation jar. If this would happen just once a month I could repay everyone with a lot more of what I am doing. I also want to mention that I am really good company at dinner parties. I love good food and good wine even better and I have unending stories that only get more vibrant as the evening progresses.

I travel across the country selling my art at juried art festivals; I build websites for selected individuals that like my way of doing so. I also sell another passion, my books of poetry.

Hear Me Now

Hear me now as I open the door to me.

I’m throwing it wide open,

for all to see the chaotic and eccentric existence what is lingering inside.

I have spent my life developing the persona you see here,

and now, with my spoken word,

I am revealing it for all of you to witness.

Words are my platform for random thoughts,

often meandering and incomplete;

rants, praise, love, words of no meaning and words of too much meaning.

You are hearing my voice.

It is my collection of oddities, fascinations, desires and obsessions –

a road map that tracks a vagabond walking in the dream

of a pure, pleasure-seeking life.

You are getting a glimpse into the state of my chaos and confusion

where there are no rules.

By looking through this door into my mind,

you will see that words and thoughts tumble from my tongue.

They will not stop, and they are ruled by none.

I speak of truth the way I see it, or the way I want to see it.

My intent will cause some to unite,

while others fear and call it blasphemy.

I chatter of love, compassion, loose women, lonely nights, crazy nights,

laughter and hard drinking,

while at the same time stopping to marvel at a flower, listen to a shadow,

or see the way a leaf has the most amazingly complex pattern.

I believe to know the light,

you also must know the dark.

I want no rules, and I feel that laws are to protect the fearful.

I am anarchy to moments of boredom and a heat source for the searching.

I do not hate and try to never to use the word.

I would rather love, and by no means do I fear kissing anyone

publicly, on the lips.

Compassion is my government.

God is real,

and no mater what he may be titled,

is tremendously too large to fit into any one religion.

Spirituality is like water, flowing universally,

transparent, unstoppable and satisfying the thirst of everyone it touches.

I look, I see, I listen and I inhale the richness

while capturing all the lessons I learn in this life.

I am a hedonist.

I want to touch the amazing pleasures of flesh, feel the wind in my face,

gaze at glorious vistas and allow them all

to fill me with their amazing wonderment.

I smile when I dance, listen to music at an extremely high volume,

smell wild aromas and try, with all that I have,

to fall in love each and every day.

I carry no recognized certificate, or seal of social approval,

but I walk my path boldly with the hope of leaving compassion

as my only footprint.

Welcome to my Chaos!

No Butts About it!

April 13, 2019
Chronologies, Excerpts, Fragments and Reflections!
From the Artistic Journals of Dan Abernathy

IMG_0274

Seeing what is happening to our earth and not understanding why so many people seem to be turning a blind eye to its destruction, I will be staying true to my crusade and a self-declared war on plastic. I know at this point I cannot eradicate it from my life, or any place else, but I am unswerving in making my plastic footprint smaller. I know I cannot fix, or repair the problem, but I can lessen my participation in it.

My new campaign is to take the butt out of smoking. If you are a smoker it is obvious that you give little thought to your health, but you do not have to contribute to the devastation of our planet. I don’t like rules and laws that cannot be enforced but a ban on cigarette manufactures would work in stopping the littering of cigarette butts. Stop putting butts on smokes. Go old school and only produce non-filtered cigarette or even better just tobacco for rollups. If there were no butts on smokes they would not end up on the ground, in the water, or floating in our oceans.

Cigarette butts are not biodegradable, meaning they will not organically break down from living organisms. It may look like cotton, but 98 percent of the filters on cigarettes are made of tightly packed cellulose acetate, the predominant filter material. It is a plastic that is very slow to degrade in the environment, which gives it life span to damage the environment.

Are the two billion cigarette butts devastating Mother Earth each day? Absolutely. Though smokers butt facts are hard to truly determine, this number is an average of less than two cigarette butts daily from each of earth’s 1.2 billion smokers. This is just 13% of the estimated 15 billion filtered cigarettes being smoked each day. That is 4.5 trillion cigarette butts littered worldwide each year.

So figuring on the low side of average, this it horrendous and if you do not believe these words and figures look around. The toxic chemicals from littered cigarette butts are scattered everywhere, along green spaces, sidewalks, roadsides, beaches and waterways. Anyplace man is or has been so is his butts. The toxic exposure can contaminate water and poison fish, as well as other animals that ingest them. This is a horrible tobacco stain into the environment and on humanity.

See and believe the truth that where man goes, he leaves his butts behind. This act of degradation and violence against the Earth is truly an assault on Mother!

You ask me to describe my life and I’m not sure I completely can. But, I do know that I am exceedingly enthralled and attracted to the kindness, peace and beauty in all things. PHOTO: Sidewalk Art, Tempe Arizona.

The intellectual explanation of love is that it is. This is the complete and undeniable proof, a testament which cannot be explained with more vivid clarity.

It is not that I am distorted or deprived of direction, I have just chosen to wander and be lost in my own personal way.

A Sacred State of Mind

A Sacred State of Mind – Where magic and beauty are everywhere.

These are the most sacred of places as they transport the mind towards spiritual enlightenment. We must not let these healing places of euphoria be lost and believe what is being gruesomely thrust at us about productivity and multitasking being the right way to live. We as the human tribe must have places to naturally heal.

Being among the groves of thousand year old red cedars in the Pacific Northwest, standing on a silent sagebrush covered knoll in Wyoming, walking among the saguaro cactus of Arizona, or sitting in any green grove of aspen trees with your back resting against one, not only provides us oxygen, it also absorbs negative energies while directing us to the higher dimension.

To go beyond being in the presence of these noble trees, hug one. Hugging a tree increases levels of hormone oxytocin. This is the hormone that is responsible for feeling calm while the hormones, serotonin and dopamine are also kindled to make you feel happier.

Being in the presence of these majestic places creates a precious ambiance, which facilitates the human mind to slip into a transcendental state. These sacred grounds where nature flourishes are important and are of the highest order.

As I sit in healing prayer and mediation, surrounded in nothing but nature, living in the natural therapy of doing so, I find the calmness of quiet. These are the times when I feel Mother Earth speaks.
